Can we use filters in related lists?

I got this question and think it's interesting. Can we use the default filters in the related lists on modules? So basically define which filter to use. Maybe we can use the List Columns Business Map for this, where you would define a filter, rather than a list of columns. The filter would then of course control the columns you want to show.
