  Observations from using vtiger
Posted by: Nigel_R - 04-17-2014, 09:36 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (4)

Hi,

I've been using vtiger for 9 years now, so I've got a few (!) feature requests for you. Hopefully some will strike a chord with other users:

Telephony:
I can click to dial a customer, but not a vendor. We do phone both!

Assets / Trouble tickets / Service contracts:
These don’t automatically integrate. Most tickets relate to a specific asset. An asset field in the trouble ticket would be nice. It would be useful to be able to bring up a list of assets relating to an organisation to populate this field, in the same way as the vendors/products. If the organisation has a current service contract, it would be useful to see / add it on the ticket.
Don’t get me started on the subject of time….!

Ticket emails:
These are rubbish out of the box!
I’ve been using the patch at https://discussions.vtiger.com/index.php?p=/discussion/54681/vtiger-5-4-0-helpdesk-email-notification-module-bugs-correct/p1 which at least gives an opportunity to create a nice looking email. Ideally (from my point of view) the subject needs to also include the organisation name, and the body should include the asset and contract info.

Contacts vs organisations.
It would be nice to have a central configuration choice (radio button) of whether organisations or contacts will be the primary choice.

Integration:
From a personal point of view it would be nice to integrate assets with OCS Inventory - http://www.ocsinventory-ng.org/

Those are just a few which spring to mind immediately. <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt=":roll:" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->

  CoreBOS and PDFmaker
Posted by: Nigel_R - 04-16-2014, 12:44 PM - Forum: coreBOS - Replies (24)

I've just upgraded our test system from vtiger 5.4.0 to coreBOS 5.4.0.
PDFmaker Professional required deactivating, unistalling, re-installing and reactivating before working correctly.
Will you be ensuring that PDFmaker compatibility will continue, or are you likely to incorporate your own solution? We've come to rely on it quite a lot here.
Regards

Nigel

  Exchange server 2010/2013 Integrated Support
Posted by: mweaver - 04-14-2014, 04:14 PM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (4)

I was thinking today - I know... a dangerous activity - that it would be awesome to have a paid for version that comes with Integrated Exchange Server support out of the box such that coreBOS would do the following automagically after configuration of the module:

  1. 1. connect to the exchange server over the activesync protocol
    2. sync the following:
    1. a. messages
      b. calendar
      c. task (todo)
      d. Contacts

I'm not sure I would want to do anything with notes from Exchange/Outlook because they may not import very well or get along very well with the comments and notes inside coreBOS. In case I'm suggest we reinvent the wheel as I've not yet seen Exchange Integration already created for this code base, its currently offered as an add-on and not part of the out of the box package.

  Native Mobile Phone Support

This would be an awesome feature to include since it would completely negate the need for a mobile app to be written.
